The Sales Director leads the day-to-day management and coaching of the team responsible for engaging client contacts and developing relationships. Goals for this team include:

  • Strengthening existing relationships with senior executives
  • Building new relationships with targeted senior executives
  • Generating participation in events and research studies
  • Creating awareness and demonstrating credibility

The core responsibility will be managing the day-to-day activities of three teams of individual contributors:

  • Business Development Managers/Reps (BDM/BDR): responsible for developing relationships with target contacts through personalized engagement efforts, leveraging all Alexander Group offerings, and generating a consistent flow of quality conversations
  • Special Projects Coordinators (SPC): responsible for recruiting new contacts to participate in Alexander Group events and research studies
  • Sales & Marketing Coordinators (SMC): responsible for scheduling ongoing re-connect calls for Alexander Group senior leaders and their most important personal client contacts

The Sales Director and associated team members work closely with Alexander Group consulting leaders to achieve the firm’s sales goals. The Sales Director will align both new opportunity generation and nurturing/expansion performance expectations to BDM/BDRs, SPCs and SMCs. Key metrics will include client engagement success, buyer journey progression, live conversations and campaign participation. As the direct supervisor for the three roles, the Sales Director will be responsible for performance management and delivering regular feedback.

A key deliverable will be an engagement plan for Alexander Group’s top client contacts. The engagement plan will be tailored for different contact types, industries and functional areas.

The Sales Director will interact with our marketing team, which develops campaign messaging, collateral and calendars of events as well as research. Success in the Sales Director role will require creativity in client engagement strategy, strong motivational capabilities, team building and excellent organizational skills to manage multiple activities across teams.

  • Hiring, onboarding and supervising team members
  • Motivating team to achieve goals
  • Developing client engagement strategy and tactics
  • Hands-on coaching of team members
  • Monitoring process execution and time management
  • Driving continuous improvement in contact management, relationship development and campaign recruiting
  • Documenting contact plans
  • Leadership of the client development process
  • Training in key Alexander Group consulting services and marketing offerings
  • Engagement with senior clients on issues that drive real change

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years of supervisory/team management experience with inside sales, lead generation, and/or business development in a consultative, B2B professional services environment
  • Proven track record of success
  • Experience in management consulting, a plus
